Dawn co-founded Aventura Investment Partners in 2010 and serves as Managing Partner. She is also closely involved in strategy and operations of Aventura portfolio companies.
Dawn's background includes management roles in venture capital (Fortis Group, Vanenburg Ventures in the Netherlands), investment banking (PaineWebber -- now UBS in New York), and new business development (Reuters - Continental Europe, Middle-East & Africa). She also completed a restructuring and turn-around of Hines Industries, a family-owned engineering and manufacturing firm, where she has served as CEO since 2009.
Dawn completed an MBA at the Wharton School and holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Bert joined Aventura in 2012 and works directly with local management of Aventura companies, with operational and board level responsibilities. Bert is an experienced farmer and entrepreneur, with over 40 years of experience managing farms from start-up phase to a 3000 hectare vegetable production operation. Bert is knowledgeable about all areas of field crop production, including treatment of plant disease, machinery operation and maintenance.
Prior to joining Aventura, Bert worked for six years for the vegetables division of BioTropic, a leading European trading company in organic fresh produce. Previously, Bert managed a 2400 hectare farm in the Netherlands for six years, and was responsible for both field and company management. He also was the owner and manager of a vegetable farm in Portugal, which he successfully sold after 10 years.
Bert holds a diploma from the Higher Agricultural School of the Netherlands.
Sidy is Managing Director of Aventura's post-production portfolio company, Les Saveurs du Sud. He joined Les Saveurs du Sud in 2014, with ten years of production management and industrial engineering experience. Previous positions were with Phare Industries, Compagnie Sucrière Sénégalaise (a leading West African sugar producer), Royal Ingredients Group (Dutch leader in industrial food products), Nomagrin, and Saloum Agroalimentaire, where he reported directly to the CEO during five years of employment.
Sidy holds a Masters degree in Chemical and Agro-Industry Engineering and a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering and Applied Biology from the Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique in Dakar.
Arona is Field Operations Manager of Locaser, Aventura's machinery services portfolio company. Prior to joining Locaser, Arona worked for over 20 years on agricultural production and development. His experience includes 6 years with Agrina Senegal, an agricultural production firm, and ENDA Tier Monde, a development organization.
Arona completed a diploma in General Studies in Dakar.
Amar is Head Electrical and Mechanical Technician for both Les Saveurs du Sud and Locaser. He joined Aventura with over 20 years of experience in various Technical roles, including 11 years with Industries Chemises du Sénégal (ICS), 2 years with Sabodala Gold Operations (MDL Group), and 2 years with Compagnie Sénégalaise Sucrière.
Amar holds a BTS in Automation and a BT in Electrical Technology from CFPT Sénégal/Japan, and a BAC in Electrical Technology from LTAB Diourbel.
Sidy is responsible for accounting for Aventura group companies. He is currently administrator at the Centre de Pratique Comptable et Fiscal and has a strong background in corporate accounting, technical audits and operational control systems. Sidy is also an instructor at the University of Dakar Bourguiba.
Sidy completed an Accounting degree at the Ecole Superieur Polytechnique de l’Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar.
